9 to 5: The Musical

April 28th - July 3rd Set to the music of Dolly Parton and based on the 1980 hit movie, 9 to 5 tells the story of three female co-workers who concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. This hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic.

 About the Show

9 to 5 was nominated for four Tony Awards and 14 Drama Desk awards when it opened in 2009, including an Outstanding Actress nomination for Oregon Cabaret alum Megan Hilty. PG-13.

SUZY NEWMAN (Violet in 9 to 5) - Suzy resides in San Luis Obispo, CA where she is an actor, director and teacher/coach. She works frequently on the Central Coast for The Great American Melodrama & Vaudeville and the San Luis Obispo Little Theatre, and recently with the Central Coast Shakespeare Festival and Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA). Suzy is also the singer with Up in the Air, a rock/world beat band. She last worked in Oregon as a guest artist at Willamette University and is elated to be here working with the terrific people at Oregon Cabaret Theatre!

ALYSSA BIRRER (Doralee in 9 to 5) - Alyssa is thrilled to be returning once more to the Cabaret this season. A recent graduate of Southern Oregon University, she spent 2015 performing in Guys and Dolls and Head Over Heels at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Some of her favorite roles include Mary Hatch in It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (OCT), Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors and Clara Johnson in Light in the Piazza (SOU). Alyssa is an Oregon native now based in New York City.

KATIE WORLEY BECK (Judy in 9 to 5, Liz/Ensemble in Chicago) Though Katie now lives in Corvallis Oregon, she is originally from Santa Cruz County California. In 2006, Katie graduated from the Pacific Conservatory Theatre in Santa Maria California. Some PCPA credits: Our Town, Much Ado, Hairspray and Guys and Dolls as The Drunk. After graduating PCPA, Katie has been working off and on with the Great American Melodrama & Vaudeville in Oceano, California since 2007. It is also at TGAM that Katie met her brilliant husband, Andrew. Her OCT credits include: What A Glorious Feeling as Jeanne Coyne, Let's Misbehave as Alice, The Winter Wonderettes as Cindy Lou, and The 39 Steps as The Woman. Katie would like to thank her friends and family for helping her remember that “nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m possible.”

GALLOWAY STEVENS (Hart in 9 to 5, Billy Flynn in Chicago) - Galloway is ready to razzle and dazzle Ashland as he clocks in with his 2016 return! You may remember him from his OCT debut performance as the Emcee in last season's production of Cabaret. Since then, Galloway has starred as Gomez Addams in The Addams Family, and most recently in his first presidential role as Warren G. Harding in Mark St. Germain's, Camping With Henry & Tom. Other favorite regional credits include Nick Arnstein in Funny Girl, Lank Hawkins in Crazy For You, Jud Fry in Oklahoma!, and King Mongut in one of his R&H favorites, The King & I. JESSICA BLASZAK (Company Manager, Roz in 9 to 5, Edie in Pine Mountain Lodge) - has been in an array of OCT's shows, including A Christmas Carol, Dames At Sea, Smokey Joe's Cafe and Tapestry, among many others. Regional credits include: The Chelsea Playhouse in NYC, Boston Symphony Hall, PCPA Theatrefest, SUDS with the original director/choreographer and writer of the show at the Mount Baker Theatre, Actor's Theatre of Phoenix, Phoenix Theatre and Childsplay Inc. Jessica attended Pacific Conservatory Theatre and The Boston Conservatory.

EDGAR LOPEZ (Josh/Ensemble in 9 to 5) - Edgar is very excited to be making his Oregon Cabaret debut! Other credits: Chicago, Evita, Anything Goes (Phoenix Theatre) Pirates of Penzance (Sacramento Theatre Company), Crazy for You (Candlelight Pavilion). Mary Poppins, the world premiere of Christmas is Here Again, Spamalot, Fiddler on the Roof, and West Side Story all with Pacific Conservatory Theatre. Other favorites include Godspell and Title of Show. Edgar has worked with Disney theme parks as a parade dancer as well being part of an opening act for the rock band HEART. KATIE WACKOWSKI (Missy/Kathy/Ensemble in 9 to 5, June/Ensemble in Chicago) Katie has her BA in Theatre and Dance, is a 2013 graduate of PCPA, and has worked since as both an actor and choreographer. Her recent, favorite roles are as Dream Laurey in Oklahoma, and Rosalind in As You Like It. She is drawn to variety in choreography as well and has recently enjoyed creating My Fair Lady, Company, and Forever Plaid. She is thrilled to be joining Oregon Cabaret both on the artistic team and on the stage. She sends her immense gratitude to her family and theatre family, whose support keeps her going from near or far.

BILLY BREED (Dick/Bob/Tinsworthy/Ensemble in 9 to 5, Amos Hart/Ensemble in Chicago) Billy is pleased as punch to be back working at the Oregon Cabaret. As a resident of the Central Coast of California he has performed in numerous productions with PCPA such as Man of La Mancha, Christmas is Here Again, Spamalot, Urinetown, Hot Mikado and many others. Other regional theatres he has worked at include: The Great American Melodrama,Theatre at the Center/Chicago, Royal Palm Theatre, Old Schoolhouse Theatre, Circa 21 Playhouse and he has toured Europe and Israel with Scala Productions. He has studied dance and theatre at the North Carolina School of the Arts, New York University and the University of Kentucky. It’s great to be back in lovely Ashland!

STEPHANIE JONES (Margaret/Ensemble in 9 to 5) - Stephanie studied theater arts at The Acting Center in Hollywood, vocal training with Laura Derocher, and dance at Buddy Schwimmer's Dance Center. Locally she has performed with Craterian's Next Stage Rep as Rita in Educating Rita and Cherie in Bus Stop, Randall Theatre as Elvira in Blithe Spirit, and Camelot Theatre as Frumah Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof. Other roles include Polly Baker in Crazy For You and Eleanor Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility. Stephanie's first appearance with OCT was as a stealth double in Double Trouble. She's thrilled to be seen in her first true role at OCT.

HALEY FORSYTH (Swing in 9 to 5) - Haley is a Lake Tahoe native who moved to Ashland to quench her thirst for theatre. She most recently performed in Oklahoma at the Camelot Theatre Company, as well as two late night shows at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre. Other highlighted roles include Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes, Kim MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie, and Miranda in The Tempest. When she is not performing, she is pouring latte art at Noble Coffee Roasting or playing with her dogs. She would like to thank her boyfriend and family for their continuous support.
