The Cabaret is a fully professional theatre, in that all of our artists, artisans, craftspeople, and designers are paid, but we are a community theatre in the sense that we are the Rogue Valley’s theatre. The place locals know and love and bring their friends and family to for the holidays. The magical place they brought their current spouse on their first date all those years ago. Thirty-nine years of Dick Hay Pie and rollicking, electric, intimate theatre in what was once the old pink church. We exist because of the support of our community and stories from our guests about what this place means to them is what keeps us going in the most difficult of times.
I’m often asked the best way to support the Cabaret after the unprecedented disruption to live events we’ve experienced over the last several years, and my answer is always the same - subscribe with us.
A solid subscription base provides the Cabaret stability and enables us to take risks, both financial and artistic. We can’t guarantee that you’ll love every show we offer, but we can guarantee that we will continue to strive to make every Cabaret show better than the last, and the artistic heart that has drawn you to the Cabaret over the years will continue to beat through each of our 2024 productions.
We start our season in a remote mansion where murder and blackmail are on the menu in Clue, the hilarious play based on the blockbuster movie and boardgame of the same name. Our next show brings more mayhem as Seymour Krelborn brings an out-of-this world plant to his little flower shop in the hit musical Little Shop of Horrors. Elle Woods is out to prove her doubters wrong as she takes Harvard law by storm in our big summer musical Legally Blonde. And we are taking our Sherlock Holmes series back to the very beginning in Sherlock Holmes and the Study in Scarlet, as Holmes and Watson meet and work their first case together. And for our final show, we are bringing back Pine Mountain Lodge, a musical comedy that combines classic standards from the 30s and 40s, an old hotel that needs to be saved, and a pair of quarreling vaudeville ghosts.
We look forward to moving towards a hopeful future where live theatre thrives, and for you to continue to make unforgettable memories at the Cabaret!
