Join Us for Our Bigger than Ever 2022 Season!

Theatre is for everyone.

It owes it’s vitality to the passing of the torch from one generation to the next and the more people it reaches, the larger the spark. Our stories should be bold, writ large and performed fearlessly. Theatrical storytellers should be as diverse as the community where it thrives, and every effort should be made to ignite the interest of the widest possible audience.

2021 was another trying year for live performance, but we remain unbowed. The realities of building back post-COVID would suggest we stick to smaller stories and smaller casts, but that’s not really who we are. Our 2022 season is about dreaming big despite circumstance and we invite you to join us, as we will produce not five, but six, first class productions that will inspire, entertain, and fill our building with the joyful noise of live performance.

The Hay family in Moon Over Buffalo are bred-in-the-bone performers who now toil in upstate New York, but still dream of the lights of Old Hollywood. In the Heights, Usnavi, Nina, and Vanessa toil in the oppressive heat of Washington Heights, a New York neighborhood they think is too small for their dreams. The steelworkers of Buffalo, New York dare to imagine that they can make ends meet as a male stripping outfit in our big summer musical, The Full Monty, and Dr. Watson’s dreams of peaceful retirement are dashed when he and Sherlock Holmes go head-to-head with their most notorious criminal mastermind, Professor Moriarity, in our comic adventure Sherlock Holmes and the Final Adventure. The company itself is dreaming big with its plans for the holiday season - two large cast shows, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at the Cabaret, and White Christmas, a Cabaret show to be produced in OSF’s Thomas theatre.

2022 also begins our multi-year roadmap to make the Oregon Cabaret more accessible to all. We are launching captioned performances and our first-ever ASL-interpreted shows. Theatre is for everyone. We will strive to bring it to a wider audience this year and beyond. Join us as we dream big in 2022.

Our 2022 Shows:

Ken Ludwig's Moon Over Buffalo

February 10th - April 10th, 2022

George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s, are playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Unfortunately, for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing.

In the Heights

April 21st - June 19th, 2022

Before Hamilton, Broadway wunderkind Lin Manuel Miranda created In the Heights, the 2008 Tony Award Best Musical winner. It takes place in a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you and which ones you leave behind.

The Full Monty

June 30th - September 4th

While spying on their wives at a "Girls' Night Out," a group of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo see how much the women enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous, out of work, and feeling emasculated, the men come up with a bold and unclothed way to make some quick cash - a strip show of their own. Based on the cult hit film of the same name, The Full Monty, a ten-time Tony Award nominee, is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and the most highly anticipated closing number of any show.

Sherlock Holmes and the Final Adventure

September 15th - November 6th

Sherlock Holmes’ skills are put to the test when he goes head-to-head with his intellectual equal, criminal mastermind Professor Moriarty. After repeated attempts on his life, Holmes is rejoined by his recently married friend Dr. Watson and the two attempt to thwart the Professor’s plans on a continent-spanning theatrical adventure that takes the audience from the safety of Holmes’ flat at 221B Baker Street to the heights of Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland.

Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol

November 17th – December 31st, 2022

One of the most beloved stories ever told, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is the beautiful, haunting tale of that fateful Christmas Eve when miserly curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by his old business partner Jacob Marley. Scrooge is told to expect three spirits to haunt him – spirits of Christmas past, present, and future – intended to set Ebenezer on the unlikely path to redemption.

White Christmas

December 1st, 2022 - January 1st, 2023

White Christmas will be an Oregon Cabaret production performed in the Thomas Theatre at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival! Evening performances will begin at 8pm and matinees will begin at 1:30.

Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former Army commander, who is in desperate need of help with his struggling lodge. The dazzling score features well known Irving Berlin standards including Blue Skies, I Love A Piano, How Deep Is the Ocean and the perennial favorite, White Christmas.
